PRESS EDUCANEPAL
Hi all,
Since I came to Nepal, it's been nearly eleven years, I began to wonder "what is poverty?". Before me was a world "less developed", but it seemed that people could live with less stress, more relaxed. Over time I realized that the lack of expectations and a greater acceptance of life as it is, appeared have something to do with the peace that I saw around me.
also began to wonder why development NGOs are only concerned with economic development, resources and infrastructure. It seemed that development can only be measured in per capita income, resources, education, mortality rates and deaths by natural disasters. I, personally, I concluded that it would be better to establish the "degree of happiness of the people" as a criterion for development policies. ... And for giving us the opportunity, in the West, we also can develop, that it needed this our society's peace, inner peace and authentic happiness (not the edible fruit of leisure or a few minutes of sex or glasses).
So I decided to persevere "to discover more about life" by watching me and seeing how my mind worked, how he felt, how they react to the facts, to praise, criticism. The more I know, the more I discovered a new being whose happiness lay in the degree of peace and quiet that was in me. If I let my judgments, tastes, expectations and fears dominate my life ... .. was generally dissatisfied with life. Only if you put out "My Mind" and let it work only for the practical things of life ... arose in me a quiet and I had never felt joy like. Were disappearing judgments about others, afraid to express what I felt, unnecessary expectations, comparisons ... .. and there were more moments of peace, of simply being and to flow with events such as water flows through the springs, without looking back, resolving obstacles to ... living the present moment ... the one reality of my life. Educanepal
When I founded, I forgot all this. I decided I would play only those who were unhappy about being abused, exploited and denigrated. Hence, our projects focus on preventing the trafficking and exploitation of child labor. I did not want to touch the rural Nepal where both had learned from life: living off the land, feel in bare feet, see the water, be happy with a meal and share experiences with your family at dinner. It's hard to live off the land, but the mind is more calm ... and little one is happy (in the West few are happy to have home, car, vacations and a luxurious life?).
Anyway, I decided it was worthwhile to focus on ending the injustices she saw around me without touching, or playing a minimum, the model of rural life. But I decided I would use my visits to Spain and any opportunity to share, to express what he felt or was seeing in my life. There emerged workshops "what makes us happy?" for students, adults ... and not be afraid to talk about something that many preferred to ignore. Fortunately, there were always people who look, is sincere and even thanked my boldness, not seeing me as a preacher, but as one who wants to be happy and likes to share or create a forum for sharing.
never thought I could do something similar in Nepal and I was surprised as in recent weeks, the urge to share and discover "what we are happy", I took a workshop for local staff. Share unforgettable six days have helped us to know a little better, to be more happy, so I can also explain my motivation for creating Educanepal. Next to the field staff (Rames, Kumar, Bim and Prenam) with that of the residence (Sriyana, Tara and Manu), and at the end of the six days I had the feeling that finally began to understand and appreciate much more work ... and, above all, how we do it. I had the feeling of being part of a family, something that only happened to me in the company of volunteers in the Canaries that allow me to be here.
The joy was shared, and weigh the idea of \u200b\u200bthis workshop to all women in cooperatives, school students, NGO staff, etc.. Everyone agreed to realize "what makes us happy, "could be a super useful tool to eliminate corruption, sloppiness, lack of empathy, abuse, slavery, child trafficking, etc ... .. I dreamed about the brave new world with which dream since I was a child ... and even knowing that only small seeds can be planted ... arose in my renewed desire to continue tilling and planting ....
Yesterday we started a workshop for women in a village. I went to all field staff to have another experience just watching the dynamics .... And gain confidence as well ... ... they want to be the ones who facilitate future workshops. To reach the village we had to cross a river and walk through fields of rice and corn in the middle of a sun that scorched .... but we walked with enthusiasm, joy ... a joke .. and another. We live an exciting time. ... And just wanted to share.
kisses and hugs from Nepal ...!
